Are you ready for this year’s Winter Cup? Congratulations to GCFC, the champions of the maiden edition!

This year’s tournament brings more excitement at zero cost. Yes, you read that correctly! You pay zero dollars to be part of the Grassroot 2025 Winter Cup. To raise the excitement and fun, we’re adopting a league format this year! Similar to the new UEFA Champions League format, there will be more games because everyone gets to play everyone. The team with the most points wins the cup! There are lots of prizes and awards to be won, so bring your A-game. ⚽🌟

Aren’t you excited?! We piloted this format at our free game on January 3rd, and it was a huge success. There will be Home and Away games for each team, taking place over four game days. At the end of March 2025, the winner of the league will be crowned. To add to the excitement, teams will play on both boarded and turf pitches—two game days on boarded and two game days on turf. A total of 56 games will be played and each game will be played for 25 minutes with no breaks. Let’s go!!!!! You see, we told you there will be lots of games 😁

February 16 (Calgary Soccer Centre)

March 2 (Calgary Soccer Centre)

March 16 (Shouldice Dome)

March 22 (Shouldice Dome)

For this year’s tournament, only eight teams can register. We’ll look to increase the number of teams next year.

Registration:
To register, each team will pay a refundable deposit of $250. Please note that the deposit will not be returned to any team that fails to show up for a game and fines will be deducted for Red cards, unruly and unsportmanlike behaviors . Your deposit will be returned within 5 days after the tournament concludes.
