The Battle of the South 2025: Soccer, Smiles & a Whole Lot of Fun!
On August 9th, 2025 in Calgary, The Battle of the South (TBS) 2025 returned for its second edition—and what a celebration it was! Building on the success of last year’s maiden event, this year’s tournament wasn’t just about goals and trophies—it was about family, fun, and unforgettable memories.
While the action on the field was intense, with teams battling for glory in thrilling back-to-back matches, it was the vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere that truly made the event shine. Children giggled and bounced with joy on the bouncy castle, while little faces lit up with color at the face painting station, transforming into tigers, superheroes, and princesses. Parents relaxed nearby, soaking in the sun and the joy of watching their kids have a blast.
Soccer fans were treated to another tightly packed tournament format, with four teams going head-to-head over four exciting matches. Just like in 2024, the quality of play, the energy of the crowd, and the sportsmanship on display reminded everyone why this event is fast becoming a favorite in Calgary’s soccer calendar.
But The Battle of the South isn’t just about soccer. It’s about community. Families came out in numbers—picnic blankets, snacks, and soccer chants in tow. Friends and supporters cheered passionately, children played mini-soccer matches of their own, and laughter echoed across the grounds.
Last year, we saw O-35 SnB FC lift the inaugural trophy, and this year’s edition proved that the competitive spirit is alive and well. The 2025 champions are the U-35 SnB FC （Aka SnB ballers. Beyond the competition, the biggest win was seeing people of all ages come together to celebrate sport, community, and togetherness.
As the day wrapped up and the sun dipped below the horizon, everyone left with full hearts (and a few tired legs). With sights now set on the upcoming The Battle of the North (TBN), and whispers of a grand finale showdown—The Battle of Calgary (TBC) —one thing is certain: this is more than just a soccer event. It’s the start of something special.
